I couldn't sleep at night knowing that I didn't have virus scan software protecting my computer and programs. Even with it, I'm sometimes uneasy.
If you don’t have virus scan software for your computer, you should drop everything that you are doing and go out to get some. You can not hope to keep your computer safe without it. There are some free versions out there too, but make sure you are getting something that keeps your machine safe.
Once you have some new software, or if you are looking at what is going on with what you currently have, think about a few setup things that can make it work better without interrupting your work.
Control With Virus Software
Some forms of virus scan software will not allow you to do anything on your own, as they run without input from you. However, most types have at least some things that you can change.
What you can find is that the software for virus scan that you have can run so often and with so much memory that your machine slows down and you can not do anything. Pages will not load when you are online, and programs freeze. If that is happening to you, try to make a few changes before you go out for different virus scan software.
You have to control when your antivirus software runs. Some can run in the background while you are working at the computer, but that can bog down your machine. You have to be sure it is running when it is needed the most and otherwise, not using up a lot of your resources.
What virus scan software should check
It should always check email attachments and anything that is going to be saved to your computer from the Internet. Your virus scan software should be accompanied by a good firewall that does not let anything in or out without your permission. If you have that, your scan does not have to work so hard and so much.
You should have at least one time a week when your virus scan software will run a total and complete scan of your entire machine. This should include everything - even places where viruses are not know to be.
You can have it set up so that it runs Sunday night after midnight and will be done in the morning - just make sure you leave it on overnight on that night. That way, you have not had to stay away from your computer when you need it the most and everything will be taken care of at least once a week. If it is working well, your computer virus scan software won’t find anything anyway.
Firewalls
Along with your virus scan software, you should have that above mentioned firewall as well as a good spyware scanner. This can take any spyware and malware that you find on your computer and remove or quarantine it so that it does not work any longer.
Spyware
Most spyware is for advertising purposes, but there is some out there that takes more information than just where you go online. That means all of it is potentially dangerous. Spyware remover is a great addition, and can be run once a week along with your computer virus scan software.
Hope this post about antivirus scans and virus software was helpful. Protect your computer and also bookmark this blog now for future reference. Thanks for visiting!

Computer Beginners Shouldn't be Frightened - Really!
Starting anything new can be intimidating and beginning computer is no different. Hope this story will ease your mind about starting out as a new "techie".
When I was first on a computer, I was scared to death. It wasn’t that I thought was going to hurt me, or course, but I was sure I was going to do something to break . That is just silly, though there is something to that theory.
It doesn’t take much to crash a system. However, what most computer beginners fear is that they are going to do something that cannot be repaired, but they should know that this is rarely the case. Today’s computers are better than ever, and usually someone can fix anything at any time.
How to run a computer
There are many great programs out there for computer beginners that explain the basic workings of how to run a computer. Luckily, today’s computers are very user friendly, which is not the same as they were just fifteen years ago.
It is far easier to keep things straight for computer beginners now than was then. Some of the first things someone will do will learn to open and close programs by using a mouse. Those are easier now, and if you mess up, no harm is done.
When you are working with computer beginners, remember to use patience. What is great about teaching children to use computers is that they have no fear of breaking anything, or doing anything wrong, and they pick things up quickly because of that.
Adults are a bit more wary, so encourage them to experiment whout fear of messing anything up. You may find that children learn faster at first, but once adult computer students overcome inial fear and start figuring things out, they should be right up to speed in no time. In fact, after they learn the basics, they may learn the rest whout your assistance.
The family member computer beginner
If your computer beginners are family members, you may want to start them off with the Internet so they can communicate with you. You may want to set up their email accounts for them, and then take some time to show them how to use . You should be patient, as is something that takes a while to get used to.
Once they get used to the mechanics of email and getting around online, they should have less trouble learning other programs. Not all computer beginners are going to learn quickly, but they will learn.
Computers keep getting easier and easier to use, and that means people are learning even faster.
I hope this piece for beginning computer was helpful and please bookmark this blog so you can visit more often to learn about computer operation.

Buying the Right Computer Desk Furniture
You've got your new computer but where are you going to put it? Home or office you need a comfortable place to work. Aside from the PC or Mac you buy, your investment in computer desk furniture is one of the most important purchases that you will make.
Although you may be tempted to buy discount office furniture, this is a grave mistake. Home office furniture must be of the highest quality for several reasons.
For one, you spend hours a day at your computer. Even if you do not work in computer jobs, chances are that you are hooked up to the Internet. Most people check their e-mail at least twice a day, and use the computer for looking up directions, finding places to eat, and a wide variety of other purposes.
Because of this, you must make sure that you have the correct home office furniture. Not only must it be stylish and well made, but it also must be comfortable. Above all, however, it must be correctly designed for your body mechanics.
Choice of computer desk furniture
There is a whole list of guidelines for correct placing and sizing of computer desk furniture. Many people have bad posture habits. Although slouching may not seem like a big deal, if you're sitting at your computer furniture desk for hours and hours a day, it can wreak havoc on your back.
Furniture for computers must be designed to support your body in the best way possible. Your chair should be the right distance from your desk, your desk should be the right height, and you should be positioned so that your feet are planted squarely on the ground. Staying in the right posture may seem like a difficult thing to do at first, but over the long run it is worth it. You'll feel better, and your health will be better protected.
Of course, it is also important to get computer desk furniture that fits your particular tastes. Some computer desk furniture may look good in the store but look absolutely awful once you get it home. This is why I always make sure that I know what color scheme I want before I go to the office furniture store.
If you go out to shop for computer desk furniture without a firm conception of what your decorating needs are, you are liable to find something designed for a completely different environment than you have at home.
I know more than one person who has bought the wrong workstation furniture and ended up having to completely repaint and refinish it once they got home. Now, you don't want to do that, do you?

How To Compare Computer Prices
Getting ready to replace your old dinosaur computer or, if you are a novice just starting to get your techie feet wet, then you'll want to read this about how to compare computer prices.
How often do you use your computer? Think about this carefully. Are you on there once every few days simply to check email, or are you on there several times each day in order to surf the web, do some banking, and maybe take care of some work away from the office?
Let's face it; computers are a big part of our lives. We need them daily to complete routine tasks that used to be more time consuming. It's great that cyberspace allows us to take care of many things from home. This saves us time and gas.
The Key is having a great computer and a reliable Internet server. Okay, so you've got the best cable service; now you need the perfect PC or Mac to go with it. Fortunately it's as easy as hopping online in order to compare computer prices and pinpoint the best deals.
What is your current net buddy of choice? I'm talking about your laptop, desktop, or notebook. Regardless of what style or size you prefer, one thing is for certain; you want the best deal. This is why it's imperative to compare computer prices before ever buying.
Shopping for computers
Have you sized up the latest PC's and Macs? Do you actually know the difference? Well, for those of you who care, a PC uses Windows. The Macs take a slightly different route. While I used to not care, I suddenly had a change of heart after browsing through an Apple store.
These days I find the methods of the Mac, much simpler than that of a PC. In addition I have never encountered spy-ware or viruses with my Mac. However, I did regularly with my PC. This is just food for thought.
Why do you need a computer?
Another factor to consider when you compare computer prices is what you're using it for. You may not want to drop a ton of cash on a high-end computer with all the bells and whistles if they're unnecessary. In more recent times, you can pick up a Dell desktop for an amazing low cost. Try 3-400 bucks. That's a sweet deal considering what we used to pay for home computers.
In the world of computers, it can be a challenge pinpointing that certain one. The key is to compare computer prices until you've found the absolute best deal on the PC or Mac that's right for you and your needs. With cyberspace at your fingertips, this shouldn't be too bad.
Get online today and compare computer prices. Find that perfect electronic partner for your work and play.
Hope you enjoyed stopping by and evaluating how to compare computer prices and units. Now, get started with your new toy!

Review Of Comcast High Speed Internet Service
What type Internet service are you currently using? Please don't tell me you are still struggling with a dial-up service.
Hopefully you have converted to Comcast high speed Internet, or at least some cable Internet service. Sure, I know, DSL can be cheaper. Believe me, I've tried DSL and it's not all it's cracked up to be.
I simply don't see the small savings each month balancing out with the quality of the service. I would rather pay a little more for Comcast high speed Internet and be able to roam the net freely without all of the slow downloads and irksome surfing in low gear. It's time to crank up the speed. If you haven't already, try out a cable Internet service today.
Comcast Cable Modems And Others VS DSL
I have been convinced that Comcast high speed Internet and other cable services are far superior to DSL. I am one of those individuals who spends a great portion of his day online. I can't help it; it's where I work, where I check my email, trade stocks, and simply surf for fun.
The Net is a virtual melting pot for many of us. Therefore, I can't fathom the notion of wasting time with a slow Internet provider. This is why I choose Comcast high speed Internet or Roadrunner over the others.
The Failings Of Dialup ISP
Have you ever tried watching a movie trailer with dial-up? This can be excruciating. You might as well pull up the clip in the morning before work and then watch it later when you return home.
You will never encounter this dilemma with Comcast high speed Internet. Movie trailers and other great downloads will commence immediately. This way you don't have to sit there and waste your valuable time.
Last Christmas I visited my mother-in-law and was shocked that she still used a dial-up service. Are you kidding me? Weren't these things banned? I guess I had just assumed that she was using Comcast high speed Internet.
Regardless, it certainly wasn't easy getting online and blocking out that horrible screeching sound. I told her she needs to check into her local cable provider.
If you too are still creeping through cyberspace with a phone line, you may want to upgrade to Comcast high speed Internet, or possibly even Roadrunner.
This will save you tons of precious time when taking care of those routine Internet jobs. In addition, you will enjoy surfing the Internet at a completely new level with a high speed cable connection.
Now, let me zap this article up with my high speed cable connection. d:-)

A Clear Computer Case Lets You See What's Inside
Nowadays you can choose almost any design for your new computer. Many don't realize you can actually see through some of the case and some don't want to.
Some people prefer a transparent computer case because they want to see the inside of their computer and how it functions.
If you are a real techno-geek then you will definitely appreciate a clear computer case to show off your hardware. These items are really cool to look at and they are surprisingly inexpensive. You can have the benefits of seeing the inner workings of your most prized possession for very little money.
This could be helpful in repairs or in technical learning. Others just prefer the postmodern look and would rather look at a naked computer instead of a bland gray covering.
If you want to see what happens inside of your computer, while protecting the valuable pieces inside you’ll want to choose a clear computer case.
Leaving your computer uncovered can be hazardous, as dust, crumbs or even insects could invade the system and cause hardware damage. A clear computer case is the safe alternative to uncovering a computer’s mystery safely.
There are many selections to choose from. They can be purchased according to different colors or “shades,” since their true covering is actually transparent. Special decorative lights can also be added into the case; a neon glow of your color choosing can sure make your computer as aesthetic as it is useful.
Add to this colored hard drives, colored fans and colored wiring, and you can create your own clear computer case theme.
The quality of these cases can vary quite extensively as well. Some are merely window cut outs or acrylic cases.
However, some companies market only clear computer cases and so create higher quality designs and use better material to construct their product. In addition to cool looks, a clear computer case can also keep computer parts cooler in temperature.
Some companies will sell an entire package including hard drives, monitors and CD/DVD-Rom drives with the clear computer case. However, purchasing a clear computer case by itself will cost anywhere from $50.00 to a $150.00 depending on accessories. Cases usually come with thumbscrews and clips and front panel bay covers.
Extra screws will be included for hard drives, CD Roms, power supplies, and a motherboard. They may even be colored or clear screws to match the theme.
Other accessories included might be polish and scratch removing liquid. A clear computer case can be a unique and beautiful design. Many computer owners realize this and so personalize their case with graphics, images or logos.
These personal creations are of tremendous value and so unsightly scratches or smudges have got to go. Polish and scratch removers can usually restore a scratched or smudged clear computer case to a brand new, flawless shine. Bottles of polish and scratch remover sell for about $15.00.
Types of clear computer cases
The clear computer case is typically made of acrylic. My little brother thought that it was made out of glass and we all thought that this was pretty funny. My dad brought home the clear computer case and my brother said that we needed to be careful with is so it doesn’t shatter all over the place.
What I like about seeing the inside of the computer is the conversations that come up when looking at it with my friends. They are pretty impressed with the clear computer case and my dad spends a lot of time explaining how things work. I’m even getting really interested in computer hardware myself.
The clear computer case was really easy to assemble but we don’t tell my friends that. I am desperate to get my parents to buy one for me so I can try to put it together all by myself. I guess that I have to wait until my 16th birthday. Two years is just too long to even think about waiting but I guess that I don’t really have a choice.
For now, I’m going to try and be content to share the clear computer case with the rest of the family.
My parents are pretty good about letting me and my friends spend a lot of time working on the machine especially if my dad gets to explain how things work. We make sure to ask even when we already know.
Who knows? Maybe if I show how much I have learned about the machine by looking through the clear computer case, I might get my very own sooner than I expect. I guess that some hard work and a little whining might be in order.
The computer is definitely my favorite thing on earth and I would love to have one with a clear computer case for my room. So, you look pretty, so do your pets, as do your house and car. Why not let your computer case look beautiful too?

Safety First - How To Buy Software Online
It's sometimes a scary world when ordering software products from the Internet but here is a report to hopefully help you to choose companies who are trustworthy. I do want to issue a disclaimer that I am not responsible for any errors here and do not endorse any particular online software dealer.
There are a great many ways to get good software, and the safest is going to a store and buying it straight off the shelf. However, because we live in a fast world, there are new and faster ways to get what you want most of the time.
You can usually buy software online, though you won’t get all you can find in the store. There are a few cons to this, even when you are getting a good deal. When you are in a hurry though, and need something right away or something hard to find, buying software online is probably the very best way to go as long as you know what you are doing.
Downloading New Software
When you buy software online, you only have to download it after you have paid for it. You can usually pay with your credit card or your Paypal account, and that is usually instant. Depending on your Internet connection speed, you can usually get things in minutes.
When you have a slower speed it might take a while, but it will still be faster than going to the store. Remember that phone calls can interrupt a dial up connection, so be sure you have it set to stay on when the phone rings so you don’t have to start all over again when you buy software online.
Know who you are buying software from
Because you have to use your credit card when buying software over the Internet, you should make sure you know who you are dealing with when you purchase. If you find something for free, do some research to be sure you are dealing with a good site.
Regarding downloading free software online
Some will give you free software, but they have hidden some goodies inside. Sometimes these programs will come with spyware, and some will come with viruses that will completely wipe out your computer. At least when you buy software online from a site you know, you can be sure you are getting a clean copy of whatever it is that you need.
How to buy software online safely
If you want to buy software online, but you aren’t sure if the site is secure or trustworthy, type the name of the site into a search engine and go through at least three pages of results to see if anyone has had a problem with them.
If you don’t find anything negative, and the site is not new, you can be reasonably sure it is safe to buy from them.
Drawback of online software buying - no backup!
Just remember that once you buy software online and download it, you won’t have a back up CD as you would if you bought it in the store. That means you should put in a blank CD and make your own copy so you have it if something were to happen to the one you bought.
Hope this helps you to safely buy software online. Use common sense, check your resources, and you should be covered.

It's Just A Lot Of Canned Air - Computer Maintenance
Taking care of your computer includes the keyboard and it's very easy and simple to provide simple maintenance with a little can of air.
If you have electronics in your home, you need to have some canned air. It might seem like a simple enough thing, but you do have more worries when it comes to dusting things with delicate parts and air vents.
Do not wipe!
Wipe down your computer and you could be making a big mistake. You may be pushing dust inside rather than taking it away, and dust can be a huge problem. There are also places on electronics that needed to be cleared of dust, but it’s not easy to reach them.
How to clean a computer keyboard
One of the biggest uses for canned air is to clean out the keyboard. Unless you have the patience to take up each of the keys to get inside to clean, which is not recommended, you should get some canned air to help you do the job quickly and completely.
How often should you complete computer maintenance ?
You should try to do this at least once a week so things don’t build up to the point when even the compressed air will not take care of the problems. Allowing that stuff to sit there is never a good idea if you’d like to keep your computer for any length of time.
Cloth vs. canned air
Other pieces of electronic equipment may specifically say that you have to use canned air to clean them in certain areas. You can use a cloth to clean your screen if you really want to so do, but you never want to run a cloth along the vents.
Professional Computer Maintenance
If you have any doubt, and you aren’t sure about the canned air, you should take your machine in to have someone clean it out for you. This won’t be necessary often, but if you have neglected the cleaning angle for a while, it might not be a bad move.
Read the directions
When you do use canned air, be careful about reading the instructions. You should always use the can in an upright position, though that is sometimes hard to do. You should use the canned air in short bursts.
Canned air warning !!!
If you feel the can getting cold under your hand, you have been spraying for too long. Let the can sit until it has warmed back up before you continue. You should never use it on camera mirrors, and it might alter the look of some plastics.
Remember that it can be toxic in high doses, so use in a well ventilated area, and don’t use around your children or your pets for their safety.
Follow the safety tips, use canned air to clean your electronic equipment, and you'll have a shiny and happy computer. If not, remember HAL on "2001, A Space Odyssey" ?

Finding Cheap External Hard Drives For Your Computer
Don't need one? I beg to differ. There are many reasons why you should have an external hard drive hooked to your computer system other than the obvious but we're not going there today.
Getting a cheap external hard drive is almost necessary for the modern computer user. After all, making sure that you have plenty of storage space is really important.
Believe me, a crashed hard drive is no picnic!
You never know when your internal hard drive is going to crash, and cheap external hard drives are the best way to protect all of your data. It is true that you can use a flash drive, and many people prefer to. Nonetheless, there are plenty of problems with flash drives.
Why not use a flash for your external hard drive?
One of them is that flash drives do not carry as much data as cheap external hard drives. And although flash drives are less expensive than buying a new hard drive in general, the difference in price is not that significant. You can get external hard drives cheap nowadays. Basically, gigabyte for gigabyte, you get more storage with a new external hard drive.
I used to store all of my data on a flash drive. I thought it was the way to go. You see, I was an on the go kind of guy. I was always traveling from one place to another, and I needed to know that my data was always available.
Unfortunately, I did not keep another backup copy of it on a cheap external hard drive. I had the computer protection I needed still sitting in a box on the floor. I had plenty of space to back up all of my information, but I still neglected to make the backups that I needed.
Then it happened -- I lost my flash drive. I could not find it, and I neglected to make a backup for a few months. Then my hard drive crashed. I lost almost everything.
Since then, I have always kept some affordable external hard drives handy. I mostly use them for backup, but this is not the only thing that they are good for. As long as you're not worried about losing data, you can keep it on your cheap external hard drives and off of your internal drive.
You only need to do a computer backup of something that you could not live without. This is probably the best way to maximize the amount of storage space that you have.
An advantage of buying a cheap external hard drive
One of the great things about cheap external hard drives is that you can take them around with you. I have learned from my mistakes with the flash drive, so I tend to leave mine at home most of the time.
Nevertheless, it is good to know that it is portable in case I ever need to bring it anywhere. And, I sleep much better at night knowing all my valuable computer files are not stored in one place. How about you?

Background Wallpaper Will Enhance Your Computer Or Website
This is not about web design although background wallpaper does play an important role. This article is mostly for getting new ideas for old computer sceen or web page enhancement.
Want to spruce up your screen or personal Internet pages? Background wallpaper is a great way to personalize your pages on the web and your personal desktop computer or laptop.
Many sources on the internet offer free background wallpaper for personal and private use. This means that you cannot use the free design on a mass market revenue site or make money by reselling it, but can use it to decorate your personal work or computer screen.
How to choose background wallpaper
When selecting background wallpaper you should keep in mind where you will be using it. If you want to use it to add some style to your desktop, you should make sure you select a design that will be easy to look at and not be too distracting.
The same goes for the background wallpaper you select for your web pages. You want the background to be unobtrusive and neutral if your site contains writing for visitors to read.
If visitors to your site are not able to read your content because your background wallpaper is too busy, they will not stick around to read your content--which is usually your reason for having a web site in the first place.
Let's say you design your own website and it contains mainly pics or artwork, you can be a little more daring with your use of background wallpaper. As long as you maintain a pleasing design and the colors mix nicely on your page, anything you decide to use as background wallpaper should work out great.
Finding Free Background Wallpaper Websites
One way to get background wallpaper is to go to one of the many free web sites and search through their database for interesting backgrounds. Once you have selected some appropriate designs you will be instructed about how to download those designs to your hard drive.
Make your own wallpaper designs for backgrounds
Another way to get wallpaper background designs for your computer and web projects is by making them yourself. You can use you own digital pictures or interesting images you’ve found on the internet and set them as your background wallpaper.
There is an option in your desktop settings to center, stretch or tile an image to create your background wallpaper and it’s up to you which you prefer. Stretching an image will distort it, making your background wallpaper look a little odd, depending on the image.
If you are using a photo with a lot of detail you might consider centering it on the screen and selecting a matching background color to fill in the remaining space.
You also have the option of tiling an image to create your own background wallpaper. This will display many small copies of the photo or image you’ve selected all over your screen. This is a good option if the image you’ve chosen to use is simple and does not have a lot of detail.
Searching the Internet for background wallpaper designs
If you choose to search the web for background wallpaper there are many free sites that offer free designs for you to download.
Just make sure you check the usage information so that you’re not infringing on anyone’s rights to the work.
A terms of usage contract will explain exactly where and how you can use the free background wallpaper.
Get creative and put up a background wall paper that's a "keeper"
Other than that, have fun in putting up background wallpaper on your computer or web pages. Get creative and come up with an exclusive concept, at least pleasing to your eyes!

We all seamlessly search the Internet for items, services and even people we want to find but, is there really only one best way to find them? Is there really only one great search engine? Let's explore the possibilities.
Since the Internet is so massive these days, there is naturally a great deal of competition. Everyone is always on the lookout for the best search engine known to man. This is understandable when you think about it.
Search engines don't merely mean locating things on the web. They also mean driving more traffic to websites. It's only natural for online businesses to advertise through the top search engines available. This means that they should be able to acquire more traffic to their online businesses. More traffic means more sales.

Google is the best search enging - for the moment
Everyone is always raving about Google and how they provide the best serch engine results. However, it wasn't that long ago that Yahoo.com was on top of the Internet world.
At this point it's basically all about Google, Yahoo and MSN. Which search engine do you use and what do you use it for? Some folks prefer the simplicity of Google since is allows you to surf the web without loads of ads on its home page.
All you get is the box to punch in your search. Then there are other major search engines like MSN and Yahoo that crowd their home page with ads and news updates, which commonly involve celebrity gossip more than anything else.
Dogpile.com is a great resource to consider if you're on a search for the best search engine. This particular website offers all aspects of search engines currently found in cyberspace.
While you may have never heard of them, there's also others like Hotbot.com, Webcrawler.com, Lycos.com and Ask.com.
Any of these can be of assistance to you when you searching for products, services and information on the Internet. However, only you can decide which one is the very best search engine for you and your needs.
Go ahead and take a peek at all the ones you come in contact with. This will assist you in finding out which search engines keep it simple and which ones have little to offer. Let's go now and search for people, places and things that we can't live without.

Do Ad Blockers Really Work?
Ran across this and thought I'd share it with you if you dislike popup Internet advertisements as much as I do.
If you have ever had a series of pop up ads slow down or even crash your computer, you are in no doubt the same frame of mind as I am. Those ads could not be any more annoying, and that’s how I feel about the people who put them up.
If I see a company name on a pop up ad, I will never shop from them. If you are going to annoy me like that, there is no way I want to buy your product or service. The good news is that you can get an ad blocker that will take care of most of these ads, and most of the time they are absolutely free of charge.
Google Ad Blockers
If you have the Google toolbar, you have a free ad blocker to use. I have one of these and it works 99 percent of the time. It even tells me how many ads it has blocked. It’s amazing how high that number can get in just a few months.
Though most people have ad blockers, there are still a high number of pop up ads out there. As far as I am concerned, a pop up ad is much like a telemarketer calling at dinnertime. They are endlessly annoying, and any type of ad blocker is a welcome tool on my computer.
Choose Your Popup Block Tool Carefully
Almost any tool bar you can download will have an ad blocker. I also have one from Furl. Make sure you know the source of any tool bar before you download it though, and never get one from an unknown source, even if you really want the ad blocker.
Some of them will suck the life out of your computer and they will send your web browsing habits to advertisers who want to know where you go online and what kinds of things you do.
Your ad blocker will do well for you no matter where you get it, but there are some ads it does not catch for some reason. I’m afraid it’s like spam email. Though there are ways to get rid of most of it, there are still some that slip through.
As hard as people work to make an ad blocker or spam eliminator, there is a hacker working just as hard to find a way around the both of them.
Ad Blockers And Kids
If you are a parent, an ad blocker can be necessary to protect your children from the sometimes harmful contents of the internet. Many ads that pop up may advertise things that are potentially dangerous or upsetting to children, such as por.nography or shocking videos and documentaries.
An ad blocker will decrease the likelihood of these advertisements popping up, and even if they sometimes do, they will be much more infrequent if you have an ad blocker.
Besides this, ad blockers can greatly increase your performance of your web browser. The amount of resources taken up by ads that repeatedly pop up and pop up is ridiculous – it wastes your computers processing power, and it wastes your time. But with an ad blocker, you can go right where you want on the internet without bothering about advertisements.
You Can't Stop Everyone
Of course, an ad blocker alone is not enough to stop all web mischief on your computer. Some systems will install harmful “malware” on your computer which will stop it from functioning correctly.
This software will keep track of where you go on the internet and sends reports back to advertisers so that they can track you and try to sell things to you. It can also subver ad blockers and make you see advertisements that should be blocked.
They can even use web diverters on you, which make your computer go to sites other than the one which you chose to go to, and make some web sites unavailable to you.
Get A Good Anti-Virus Program
To stop this ruthless plundering of your computer by unethical hackers, it is essential that you obtain a virus detector and eliminator to stop them from infecting you. Also, you must always be sure to use the internet responsibly.
Do not go to web sites with lots of ads or places that look “fishy” or seem to promise illegal or questionable services. These are more likely than any others to be the ones to subvert your computer and ruin your productivity.
Better safe than sorry when it comes to surfing the Internet. Don't let popups rule your net life.
Do You Really Need Cable High Speed Internet?
You've seen the TV spots advertising high speed cable Internet, dial up, and other types but which do you need? The explainations are fuzzy but hope you'll find some answers here.
The PC has changed life as we know it. Well, I guess I should actually say the PC and Mac. Regardless of your preference in fine technology, you are surely getting your money's worth these days.
Since the 1990's, many of us have become accustomed to the home computer. We may have started with those antique desktop computers that came with space consuming towers and television size monitors, but things have certainly evolved over the last decade.
Internet Service Has Changed Too!
The same can be said about our Internet service. These days we hardly remember the gut-wrenching pace of dial-up. It is now the era of cable high speed Internet.
What Internet service provider ( ISP ) do you use?
Are you a fan of DSL or cable high speed Internet? These are common questions recently. Various providers are always vying for our business.
The question we often ask ourselves is; what are you offering and how much will it cost me? Am I right or am I right? Of course we all want a high speed cable modem, but we don't want a fat bill at the end of each month.
Being a fan of cable high speed Internet myself, I have certainly tried my share of services. At first I gave Roadrunner a shot, and it worked well. Then I moved across the country and switched to Comcast. I had no complaints with their service overall.
More recently I relocated again. This is when I decided to give the local cable high speed Internet service a shot. Well, I was under-impressed.
While the service worked fine most of the time, the prices were higher than what I had previously experienced. This is never good!
If Cost Is A Factor In Cable High Speed Internet Service ...
Shortly after acquiring this new service, I decided to switch back to Roadrunner, which offered the same benefits at a lower cost.
Dial-Up Internet
Do you use dial-up? Well, let's hope not. Dial-up is certainly a concept of the previous millennium. Why even bother with that horrific sound and turtle-like speed when you could be enjoying cabel high speed Internet at a decent price?
If you have not already switched to cable high speed Internet, then jump online today. I think you will be surprised at the reasonable rates.
While some people like to save a few bucks and go with DSL, I can't recommend this. I surf the web for work and play far too much to tolerate a slower speed. These days you can find cable high speed Internet services for reasonable rates.
The whole buzz of technology has worn off, and web surfing service in high speed cable has become the norm for any household. See what's available in your area now. You'll be happy when you find you can download a page online without having to go get coffee while you're waiting. d:-)

Use Anti Glare Screens To See Your Computer
Do you like the idea of working on your pc or mac in a dungeon? Neither do I which is why I'm suggesting anti glare screens to help eliminate the eye squinting problem.
You remember those old green screen computers? I remember being in elementary school and learning to program in logo on one.
Even at that time, the green screen monochromatic was a little dated, but the teacher assured us that it was the best possible system for our eyes. The four color and sixteen color screens we were using at home, she assured us, would lead to the ruination of our vision.
This was far before anyone had heard of anti glare screens, but even back then, there was awareness about the possible harmful effects of computer screens on people's eyes.
Well, whether or not my 4th grade teacher was right, no one but a complete fanatic uses monochromatic computer screens today.
Why Use Anti Glare Screens?
Anti glare screens have become a necessity for the modern computer for many reasons. Many of us use our computers for everything – for work, for email, for movies and video games.
The amount of ultraviolet and other dangerous emissions from our computer screens inevitably builds up and does damage to our eyes if we don't use a screen glare filter. The anti glare screen may not seem to make a big difference if you are just looking at your computer for an hour or two, but multiply that by several hours a day for years and years, and you will see just how much of a problem it can be.
"But anti glare screens aren't just useful for safety."
The number one use of anti glare screens is, well, for reducing glare. If daylight is coming through your window at a bad angle, you won't be able to see what is going on your screen at all.
What would you rather do? Would you like to close the shades and stay in artificial light all day? Do you want to have to turn the computer at different angles as the sun makes its transversal across the sky?
Or do you use the easy and logical solution of screens for anti glare on your computer which will eliminate glarring, not only from sunlight, but from artificial lighting as well.
To me, the choice seems simple. I have anti glare screens on every computer in my house, including my laptops. Although they can be temperamental and fragile, anti glare screens in general really are a breakthrough technology.
I'm sure the day isn't far away when they are built into every computer monitor straight out of the factory. Until then, we'll just have to count on our trusty anti glare computer monitor screens to keep our eyes healthy. "See you later" if you book mark now! d:-)

Basic Computer Training For Beginners
You'd think that pretty much everyone has a computer nowadays and that's true in one sense. But, what about those of you just "coming of computer age" and learning the basics for operating computers? This one's for you!!
We live in something called the world of electronics. Unless you’ve been living in a cave for the last 20 years, you know as well as I do that computers rule the day.
Not knowing how to use a computer not only seriously limits the kinds of work you can find, but also disqualifies you from a number of great conveniences computers offer ever day life in the world of today.
If you don’t know how to use a computer, getting some basic computer training will be a very wise investment.
Getting Trained For Computer is simple ...
Basic computer training can be as simple as teaching yourself. If you’re reading this, you are using a computer and so you’re already well on your way toward a self taught basic computer training.
DOS? What's that?
When computers first started coming into homes on a large scale, that’s pretty much what I did. The reining Microsoft operating system at the time, DOS, was complicated and not exactly user friendly, but I spent some time everyday just fooling around with it and eventually it’s mysteries unfolded to me.
Today, giving yourself some basic computer training is easier than ever, as the current operating systems are much more user oriented than DOS ever was. Having said that, I have to say that I loved DOS, and miss it horribly.
DOS shells just aren’t the same thing. Anyway, I’m getting off track. The point is anyone can teach themselves how to use Windows or Apple’s operating system oh-so creatively called OS.
All you need is some time and a computer, and if you’re reading this you must have both. To help, there are plenty of basic computer training books and guides out there to get you started.
Of course, even better would be to take a basic computer training course.
Why you need some computer basic training
How often do you use a computer on a daily basis? When you check your email, when you go to the grocery store, checking the bank account, or possible purchasing a gift online; these are common occasions when we use computers.
I have found it very useful in my everyday life to fully understand Microsoft Office. These are some of the most common software programs used in our society today. This is certainly considered basic computer training.
This is why it's so useful to understand computers as best I can. Since I write on a Windows based PC regularly, I prefer to fully comprehend its functions so I don't have to always call for help if something goes wrong.
Basic training courses for computers
An actual basic computer training course would teach you everything you need to know much faster than stumbling through it on your own. However, courses like these do cost money, and will require you to attend a classroom of some kind.
There are a lot of basic computer training courses taught at night schools, using the resources of local high schools, city colleges or universities.
Several years ago my computr illiterate mother took one of these basic computer training classes, and now I think she knows more than I do about using Windows.
She has also since gotten a job she never would have been able to land without knowledge of computers.
Basic computer training would benefit anyone. Even if you are retired or don’t work, knowing how to write and send emails, how to pay bills online, how to order products or buy tickets online, or just perusing the internet to do some research can really open the doors to a vast amount of resources for you.
Now that you've learned more about computer basic training be sure to bookmark this page and tell all your friends about it. Thanks for stopping by!

What's The Difference Between DSL And Broadband Connections?
You've seen the TV spots telling you about fast Internet service and why you should use broadband or DSL and I'm sure the future will unlock many other options for the way we surf the web. But, what's the difference and which is right for you?
Sometimes I just like to kick back with my laptop and surf through net-land. There are just so many great websites and information solutions available.
How often do you pop open your notebook for a quick browse? Maybe you're shopping for a new pair of shoes, or searching for some jewelry. The World Wide Web is the prime place to shop around and pinpoint the best deals.
Well, since you've already got your trusty PC or Mac close at hand, now all you need is decent broadband Internet access. Do you know what that is? When it comes to frolicking through cyberspace, connection speed is always an issue.
Is Broadband Really Faster?
Do you fully understand the difference between slow internet servers and broadband Internet access? To be more exact, there are three basics to choose from. You have dial-up, DSL, and broadband Internet access.
All of which are still currently being used around the world. With dial-up being the oldest version, it's also the slowest. This is the one that smacks you in the face with that irksome screech every time you log on. It runs through your phone line, therefore cuts off any potential callers when you're logged on.
The Weakness Of Dial Up Internet And How DSL Eliminates The Problem
The downside here is that you may miss an important call, or you may get kicked offline every time someone tries to call. That's always a bummer.
Now, with DSL you receive a permanent online access through a separate phone line. This way you're always connected to the Internet, and it doesn't interfere with your incoming phone calls.
Broadband Internet Service Is King
Now we come to broadband Internet access. This is the ideal one we all should acquire if possible. It is achieved through a cable, as apposed to a phone line.
With broadband Internet access you certainly acquire a much faster overall Internet experience. This way you can surf the web at the pace you desire. No more waiting for media clips and trailers to open. You can watch them immediately with broadband Internet access. This in turn will save you a lot of time and frustration.
If You Have The Means, It's Time For Broadband Internet Access
If you are still struggling with dial-up or DSL, maybe it's time you steered more toward the cable side. You can hop online now and sort through a variety of deals regarding broadband Internet access and monthly fees.
When you do switch over to broadband Internet access, you're certainly going to appreciate all that valuable time saved. And now you'll have more time to visit more sites! Doesn't the Internet now sound more exciting?

Learn The Advantages Of Email
Beginner? The fact is, emailing is painless really! If you've never used it you'll be sending email messages in no time flat. Read this tutorial about the advantages of email to get started in the electronic age.
Many newcomers shy away from computers and all computer-related issues, thinking it's all part of some complicated world they can't possibly master.
Older people are especially prone to this misinformation, because they didn't grow up with all of the modern technology the younger set is absolutely immersed in today. You hear about text-messaging, instant messaging and email attachments.
Soon it becomes a blur and you don't know the difference between a blackberry and a portable drive.
Oh my, no, it's all too complicated for me! Does this sound like you? Well, take heart. Let's start you off with one of the best and easiest technologies in computers, email.
You'll soon be convinced of the many advantages of email. Before long, you'll wonder how you did without it!
Email is the acronym used for Electronic Mail. Although there are many email programs, the basic presentation is the same.
You start with a blank page, in which there are spaces, called fields, to type in your addressee and the subject of your message. The main part of the page is used to type your message. Use the tab key to move from one field to another. So the first advantage of email is that using it is simplicity itself.
When you've finished typing your message, there's no addressing an envelope or looking for a stamp. No trip to the post office. You simply point the arrow cursor on the 'send' button, and off it goes.Your message is usually received within minutes!
Unlike an ordinary paper letter, with email a copy of everything you send is automatically stored in your email box. Look at the left hand menu, where categories of message items are listed.
Click on the 'sent' button in this menu to see a copy of every message you've sent, with date and time-stamps. Record-keeping and archiving are another important advantage of email you don't get with paper letter writing.
More Advantages To Using Email
So, the advantages to using email don't stop here. Along with your letter, you can electronically attach digital photos and documents. Send pictures from your 30th anniversary party to friends across the country. Send a copy of a legal agreement you'd like your lawyer son to review before you sign.
Did you forget to buy a card for your niece's graduation? There are hundreds of greeting card websites with thousands of choices for any occasion and theme. Most are free! Off they go with a simple click. You can personalize your greeting with your own message and even insert special effects and animations!
About Email Policies
If you have an email address through your work, you have to worry about the email policies that your company may have on your account.
Though you can do anything you want through your private email as long as you are not at work, what you can do with your work email address may be restricted, and there are very good reasons for this.
You should make sure you know what your company expects from you, and you have to know that they may be checking up on you.
Most companies have email policies to protect their image. They don’t want you sending out something that may harm their reputation with an email address with their name on it. This is totally understandable.
It might be like someone using your email address to send out porn. In the end, even if you didn’t personally do it, it might reflect badly on you nonetheless. When you begin your job and are assigned your address, the company will most likely spell out their email policies for you. If they don’t, make sure you ask if there is anything else you need to know.
Email policies might also cover when you can use your email. Many companies frown on workers using their work email address for personal correspondence because it cuts down on productivity.
You know how it is when you get emails you stop and read them. This can cut down on the time you are working, and they don’t want everyone dwelling on personal emails when they need to be working. They don’t pay you to check your personal emails so you should know that if you are caught that you might be in trouble.
You should also find out if your companies email policies cover checking in on you. Some people reserve the right to read everything that comes in and out of your work email address to make sure you aren’t doing something you shouldn’t be.
Though some people think this is an invasion of privacy, they may be well within their rights to do this. Save yourself the hassle and have your own email policies. Save the personal stuff for when you are home, or at the very least, attend to it on your lunch hour.
If You're Not Sure, Check With Your Company Policy About Emails
Ask if this is acceptable first, however, as they may not be able to tell when you were online or emailing. They may ask you to use your own personal email address no matter what, and leave the business one to business affairs only.
Even With Policies In Force, You'll Still Discover Many Advantages Of Email
Surely you're itching to try this wonderful technology. Believe me, once you start using email, you'll be hooked.
Get Started Emailing And Enjoy The Experience
In conclusion, if you're plagued with arthritis, your hands will not be hurting after a single letter - you'll keep going and going, painlessly!
Many newcomers shy away from computers and all computer-related issues, thinking it's all part of some complicated world they can't possibly master.
